Wambo 1 Windfarm is located near Jandowae approximately 400 kilometers inland from Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. A site chosen for its excellent wind resources and attractive grid connectivity.
The project is currently under construction. Phase one consists of 42 Vestas V162 6.0-megawatt (MW) wind turbines with a total output of 252-megawatt clean energy.
Oestermark Grouting has been contracted to supply and install Y-Mattec G2000 grout and sealing for phase I. Each wind turbine foundation requires 13 tons of Y-MatTec grout to be installed. Phase one will be finalized in 2025.
In a second phase Wambo II will add further 41 Vestas wind turbines to the windfarm. Once fully implemented the Wambo I and II will produce in excess of 500 megawatts at full production. Phase two will finalize in early 2026.
Wambo is a 50:50 joint venture between Cubico Sustainable Investments, a major investor in the renewable energy sector globally and Stanwell, a Queensland Government-owned electricity generator.
It’s expected the project will create up to 200 new jobs during construction, and 8 to 9 ongoing management and maintenance jobs once the wind farm is operational.
